Tokyo and London, November 16th, 2006 --- NEC Corporation (NEC)
today announced that it will participate in ITU Telecom World 2006
(Telecom 2006) being held in Hong Kong from December 4 - 8. This
will be the tenth consecutive year NEC has participated in the
exhibition since the first one held in 1971.
The company’s slogan for Telecom 2006 is "Experience the Wonder
of NGN from NEC." The NEC booth will showcase how NEC’s
next-generation network (NGN), based on its world-class
technological competences in IT and networking, opens the door to a
"ubiquitous networked society” where information is transmitted
easily and securely anytime, anywhere and to anyone.
The NEC booth will feature a "Theme Stage" to extend the theme
of "NGN, helping to grow a new community," in collaboration with
popular Chinese actresses and music. Visitors to the Theme Stage
will have the opportunity to learn about the new possibilities and
benefits that NGN brings to individual’s lives.
NEC will also exhibit a broad range of NGN service solutions and
technologies that embody new lifestyles and businesses introduced
on the stage. With the main theme “Convergence”, "Group
Communication over Push to Talk”, a new kind of group communication
amongst a multitude of terminals that share multimedia contents
(whiteboard, web, video, etc.) will be demonstrated. Exhibits
focusing on the key concept of "Service Convergence" will showcase
Network Service Platform products, Wireless & Optical Transport
products, Network Traceability Technologies capable of identifying
performance degradation and points of breakdown in large-scale
networks, and business-oriented solutions using dual terminals with
3G mobile telephony and wireless LAN. Broadband services/ Triple
play (IPTV, IPTV telephone, web) based on NEC’s highly reliable
carrier network infrastructure technology and high-grade
multicasting technology will be also exhibited. Visitors will be
able to view a wide variety of converged services with broadband
mobility on the IMS/MMD platforms, High-Speed Packet Access
(HSPDA), next-generation wireless access technologies, and so on.
The service platforms and IT infrastructure technology to be
required by the telecom carriers in the NGN era will be also
introduced.
PaPeRo, NEC’s next-generation Partner-Personal-Robot, will be on
display alongside a 3D facial recognition system designed to secure
working environments. Both are key for realizing a “ubiquitous
networked society.”
NEC will distribute outlines for these Telecom 2006 exhibits in
real time to guests at NEC’s "C&C Users Forum & iEXPO2006"
exhibitions to be held concurrently in Japan. This will be
accomplished with "Finestream," an NEC image-distribution
technology (H.264 codec) for distributing high-resolution images
and sound over IP networks.
