Sweden's largest operator improves network quality with NEC

Tokyo, December 4, 2006 -NEC has been chosen as sole supplier of radio link equipment when TeliaSonera improves its transport network in the Nordic Region and the Baltic States. The contract implies that TeliaSonera will modernise its existing radio links with NEC's new Pasolink NEO platform.

"Wireless infrastructure is often more cost-effective than fixed in sparsely populated areas. With NEC's radio link equipment, we obtain a more flexible solution, simultaneously as we minimise both our investment and operating costs," says H?kan Dahlstr?m, Manager for Networks & Technology at TeliaSonera.

One of the advantages of NEC's Pasolink NEO compared with previous equipment is the possibility to handle different transmission speeds and interfaces with the same platform. This makes it easier and cheaper to gradually expand the network when increased capacity is required.

"That TeliaSonera chooses our technology demonstrates that we have the capacity and reliance to supply solutions with the quality and reliability required in major operator networks," says Mats Almgren, CEO of NEC Scandinavia.
