Tokyo , 6th February, 2006 --- NEC Corporation announced that
NEC, via its subsidiary NEC France received an order for a video
streaming solution from Bouygues Telecom in France.
The video streaming platform developed by NEC, which consists of
a set of servers and integrated software based on PacketVideo
Network Solutions technology, enables Bouygues Telecom customers to
watch live TV and a smooth and speedy access to Video-on-Demand on
i-mode(TM)-enabled EDGE Handsets. The project includes not only
providing the platform (hardware and software) but also system
integration, optimization of the video streaming platform with the
current i-mode(TM) service platform and related after
service/maintenance. NEC’s video streaming solution started
operation in the video streaming service started on October, 26th ,
with the launch of Bouygues Telecom’s broadband mobile Internet
service, called " i-mode(TM) Haut-Debit" on its EDGE network.
Video streaming is positioned as the key services for the year
end on Bouygues Telecom’s EDGE high-speed network. Video streaming
and other video-related services will become killer applications
for EDGE and 3G to help differentiate operators’ high-speed data
services, create new added value to be enjoyed by end-users and to
expand EDGE/3G. Under such circumstances, NEC will promote video
streaming platform offerings to 3G operators worldwide.
Since 2002 when NEC and Bouygues Telecom entered into a strong
partnership to realize Bouygues i-mode(TM) services in France, both
companies have worked very closely.
NEC thus demonstrates the quality of its “end-to-end” offer,
including network infrastructure systems, service platforms, mobile
terminals, and content services, offered to mobile telephone
operators and users throughout the world.
