- Creation of a vast database of information on 1.4 million
corporations in 187 countries worldwide -
Tokyo, May 9th, 2006 - NEC Corporation announced that it had
launched a new corporate-information search site, NEC Business
Directory, designed for use by corporations engaged in domestic and
overseas business transactions. The new website goes live
today.
The site is an Internet version of a corporate-information
database, created to help Japanese companies access information on
domestic and overseas companies. It also enables Japanese and
foreign companies to effectively display their corporate
information worldwide through tie-ups with similar, popular
overseas sites toward enhanced and expanded global business.
Unique features of the NEC Business Directory
include:
1. Provision of a well-developed corporate database
The new database enables free searching of information on
approximately 1.4 million corporations in 187 countries worldwide
by 120,000 product/service categories [*note]. The majority of
existing, search databases require a use fee and only include
limited information on Japanese corporations with a minimal number
of search categories (usually ranging from several hundred to
several thousand). NEC’s new service consists of a well-developed,
thorough corporate database with a wide range of information on
products of
1.4 million corporations, which are engaged in every kind of
industry from manufacturing to services.
2. Provision of a variety of free services
Besides an extensive search function, the menu of services
includes many versatile options for corporations/users searching
for information on companies and products meeting their needs. With
the My Page function individual users can customize search pages
and save data on their “favorite companies.” All services are
offered for free, enabling users to search out new business
partners effectively at no cost.
“NEC’s Business Directory capitalizes on the benefits of the
Internet, providing a central location for Japanese companies to
promote and disclose their information toward enhanced global
business expansion, anytime, anywhere.” said Makoto Imai, Associate
Senior Vice President & Executive General Manager, NEC
Corporation.
NEC expects this service to contribute to the expanded growth of
Japanese companies at home and abroad. To this end, it plans to
increase the number of registered Japanese companies to 20,000 over
the next two years to ensure maximum support in the domestic
market.
[*Note] As of February 2006: Realized through a tie-up with
WAND, Inc. of the United States. As for the database search
category, around 122,000 types in English and 113,000 in
Japanese
