This year at 3GSM World Congress, NEC, the global technology innovator, will present ranges of new solutions which will support market’s challenges with unique breadth of network solutions for mobile, combined with technical strength in IT. NEC will show how our innovative solutions and services will help you in customers’ challenges to meet end user requirements for exciting services, to stay one step ahead of your competitors through your technology edge, to drive your business forward, to increase the bottom-line and to give you a glimpse at tomorrow’s technology promise.

NEC adopted “Going Further” as company’s slogan for this year’s 3GSM World Congress and presents innovative solutions in various areas such as:-

Mobile WiMAX
NEC presents, for the first time outside of Japan, its Mobile WiMAX solution. Operating in the 2.5GHz band, this flexible basestation platform can also deliver services in the 3.5GHz band for fixed applications.  The solution includes support for guaranteed quality of service for voice over IP and handover between WiMAX and other key wireless technologies.

High Speed Uplink Service (HSUPA)
NEC demonstrates high speed uplink services for 3G radio networks, which allow operators to give users a better experience for sending emails, sharing videos and other files. This will build on the improvements that NEC has already rolled out across operator networks with high speed downlink services (HSDPA) around the world.

Microwave Solutions
In order to ensure the speedy delivery of new bandwidth hungry services operators are also investing in more efficient backhaul networks. NEC offers several products for microwave and leased lines. NEC introduces a new solution to allow flexibility and aggregation of different types of transport methods in order to provide an end to end Ethernet network.

Home Gateway Solutions
NEC presents 3G Access Point which is installed at the customer premises and connected to operator core network using the customer xDSL.  3G Access Point will provide localised 3G coverage and capacity to customers at home with no interference or impact on the macro network.  The Access Point will give an operator a capability to offer home zone pricing to customers when at home thus enabling operators to enhance their revenue streams while improving the customer retention.

VoIP Seal
VoIP SEAL (SEcure Application Layer firewall) is a security platform prototype for protecting next generation multimedia network and service infrastructures. VoIP SEAL protects VoIP and multimedia systems, users and applications against a wide range of attacks thanks to its modular and extensible design. The featured application of VoIP SEAL is the detection and prevention of SPam over Internet Telephony (SPIT) thanks to the patent protected innovative methodologies. VoIP SEAL also increase the security of VoIP and Multimedia infrastructures by detecting and preventing Denial of Service (DoS) attacks and frauds.

Enterprise Solutions
NEC Philips Unified Solutions, NEC's new venture in Europe, demonstrates enterprise communications, with focus on mobility and application integration across enterprise and public networks. Solutions include Unified Communications for messaging, presence management and collaboration running on Microsoft (R) LCS and NEC’s UNIVERGE SV7000 IP communication server, as well as UNIVERGE Assured Mobility, NEC’s latest generation Wireless LAN solution, combining voice, data and real-time multimedia with mission-critical business applications.

In addition, Kaoru Yano, President of NEC Corporation, describes the routes to Redefining Vendors to Future Success at Morning Keynote Session “Redefining Vendors for Future Success” (Thursday, 15 February 2007, 9:10am - 10:50am)
